Success with Academic Probation - Get off probation NOW!

Suspension

If you are unable to complete the probation semester with the acceptable GPA and credit completion, you will be suspended academically AND for financial aid purposes at the end of the semester.  You will be notified of your suspension status via a letter from the ICC Registrar and Academic Dean.

Academic suspensions last for one academic year.  Once you have served your year of suspension, you may return to ICC academically on a probationary status.  All other MnSCU colleges honor a suspension received at ICC.

If you believe you have extenuating circumstances which affected your academic performance, you have the right to appeal before your year of suspension is served.  For more information on a suspension appeal, contact your counselor or the Records Office.

You must ALWAYS appeal for financial aid reinstatment, even if you have been away from ICC for more than one academic year!

If you must withdraw from a course during the probation semester, contact the college counselor, promptly, for assistance.  While this most likely will lead to eventual suspension, in some cases it does not. Don't give up!

Find out how this will affect you...

  • Focus your energies on continuing and passing the remaining courses.  This will be important when you submit a suspension appeal in the future.
  • Take the time to meet with your counselor to set-up a recovery plan.
  • Reflect on what is getting in the way of your progress and make adjustments that will lead to your academic success.
